Laser Treatments Q & A

What are laser treatments?

Polley Clinic uses the innovative Aerolase laser to perform laser treatments to address medical and cosmetic skin concerns.

The Aerolase laser is the only laser of its kind to use 650-microsecond pulse duration laser energy. This is a much shorter pulse duration than any other laser, maximizing results and minimizing pain and side effects

During laser treatments, the laser energy passes through the skin and targets what causes your problem to improve your skin concern. Because it passes through your skin so fast, it doesn’t overheat the skin, minimizing discomfort.

The laser energy produced by the Aerolase laser stimulates the production of collagen, which is a structural protein found in the second layer of skin that provides support and strength.

How can laser treatments help me?

Polley Clinic of Dermatology offers laser treatments to address many skin concerns.

  • Acne
  • Melasma
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Rosacea
  • Beard bumps
  • Psoriasis
  • Scars
  • Poikiloderma of Civatte

Laser treatments may also help you if you’re looking for a painless treatment to rejuvenate your look or remove unwanted hair.

With rising prescription costs, laser treatments serve as an excellent cost-effective alternative for patients to prescription medications. It also helps those who want to avoid side effects or can’t take various medications because of skin sensitivities.

What happens during laser treatments?

Your Polley Clinic provider develops individualized treatment plans for your laser treatments based on your unique skin care needs and concerns.

Treatments can be performed at any of our offices, and usually take an hour or less. During laser treatments, your provider holds the Aerolase laser device over your skin and delivers the laser energy.

Because the laser doesn’t touch your skin, there’s no need for anesthesia.

Laser treatments at Polley Clinic also rarely cause side effects, and there’s no need for downtime.

How many laser treatments do I need?

Though you may notice an improvement in your look after your first treatment with the Aerolase laser, you may need a series of sessions to get the best results. Your provider determines the number and frequency of your laser treatments at your consultation, so you know what to expect and how to prepare.
