Joseph "Mike" Wilkinson, MSN, APRN, CNP is a native of Longview, TX and has been a nurse practitioner in dermatology for 12 years.  His career started in 1983 in the military working in the hospital laboratory.  He won several awards during his enlisted career, and the Navy selected him for a full scholarship to the University of Texas at Arlington.  He graduated in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.  At Naval Officer School Mike was the Honor Graduate in a class of 187.


He spent many tours with the Navy overseas and stateside working as a Nurse in Orthopedics, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, and Operational Medicine specializing in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and High-Yield Explosives, and Family Practice and Wellness.


He received his master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2005 while he was stationed at NAS Corpus Christi and was the Honor Graduate of his class at Texas A&M, Corpus Christi.


He retired as a Lieutenant Commander after 23 years of military service, and his highest award was the Meritorious Service Medal. He immediately started working in Emergency medicine in Texas and then moved to North Carolina. In 2008 his passion became Dermatology.  He was hired by Dr. Polley and trained with him for a year.


Mike is married to his wife Michelle, and he has two grown daughters.  His hobbies are fishing, hunting, and hiking.  His passion is treating patients with skin cancers and difficult rashes.
